The Society of American Military Engineers (SAME) Seattle Post will be hosting the Joint PAC-NW Regional Conference at the SeaTac Hilton Hotel this October 12th through the 15th. The conference will focus on the gateway to pacific opportunities including educational and training tracks for the military and engineers in the region.
The venue promises to have presentations from various military command posts highlighting upcoming design and construction opportunities within their respective regions. Participants include the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, U.S. Navy, U.S. Coast Guard, and NOAA from several different regions in the Pacific Northwest. Events include a golf tournament at Whispering Firs Golf Course at McChord AFB, a hydraulic wave lab tour, and key note speaker Maj. Gen. Timothy A. Byers. The conference will also host a Design Excellence competition for projects in and around the Pacific Northwest, as well as an Octoberfest Icebreaker.

The Seattle Post was chartered in 1920 - the same year the National Society of American Military Engineers was organized.
For the past 17 years, we have been awarded the Society's "Distinguished Post" award.
Membership includes all branches of the military (particularly representatives from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the Navy's Engineering Field Activity Northwest, the Coast Guard's Facilities Design & Construction Center, N.O.A.A., and Public Health Service, as well as other federal, state, and local agencies that provide and utilize engineering, planning, architecture and construction services).
Our membership also includes the majority of the Northwest's major civilian engineer, planning, architectural, and construction firms that provide professional services to federal, state, and local agencies.

Our 14th Annual Design Excellence Award Dinner will take place on October 14, 2010 at the Airport Hilton in conjunction with the Joint Regional Education and Training Conference. This year, contest applications will be accepted from sustainer firms in the SAME Northwest and Pacific Regions, with pre-submittals due August 6 and summary booklets due September 10.
